Dusk in the mountains
On my drive back home from a conference in the hills of Manipur, this breathtaking sunset caught my attention. I observe its beauty as I sat inside my car. Though it was getting late and we didn’t stop to fully admire the scene, we carried that admiration with us along the way. Interestingly, the blurry image created by the vehicle’s speed only enhanced its aesthetic appeal.
(President Rule) PR was implemented in Manipur for the 11th time on 13th of February 2025. The people of the state has yet again seen a fail government; skeptically I fly to to the state on 15th of February, like any other places on earth spring in Manipur is mesmerizing. After four days in village with good food, sunshine and the river flowing over pebbles that helped me detoxify from the polluted city life.
I went to a conference in the south eastern hills of Manipur in one of the tribal village, the lilies and flowers I came across as I passed the Himalayan ranges is hypnotizing, I almost forgot I had come to a politically fail state. The people and the land is still peaceful despite all the trauma’s it had been through for the past one year; even for a moment I could find serenity among the hills, among the trees, and the little Himalayan flowers with its colorful hues communicated to me, that everything is temporary and artificial except nature.
As I watch the surrounding nature, I felt good times are coming and one day this beautiful nature will overcome the hearts filled with sorrow, mourning and sadness.
How aesthetic it was when I capture the sunset in such blurry image, how wonderful the people are to find joy in nature despite everything that it had gone through.
Finding love has become a daunting task, as people becoming increasingly savvy and with the technology advances, we’ve lost the innocence and spontaneity. Being hyper-informed from various social media sources, we are guarded with defense mechanism on high-alert. But ironically love can still be found in its purest form – in nature and with nature. We can effortlessly fall in love with the photogenic sunsets, the majestic sunrises, the soothing sounds of a babbling brook or the delicate beauty of a flower.
I have come across such paradoxical peace in the hills of Manipur which I captured and carried with me since then.
